Round 1 Part 1

The battles have begun and we have some early round results. As I stated last post, Superman versus Booster Gold was the first battle. Unfortunately Booster didn't have Blue Beetle to help him out and Superman beat him easily. Winner - Big Blue

Our second battle pitted Batman, the Dark Knight, versus Starman. For this battle the only Starman that would enter the tournament was Thom Kallor, most likely because he is borderline schizophrenic and the voices in his head told him to enter. As it turned out, that was lucky for us! This battle was pretty back and forth, especially for a first round match. Starman seemed to be on the verge of winning the battle, and giving us our first upset. He has killed in the past and who is to say his psychosis couldn't lead him to doing it again as it seemed this "killers way of thinking" was giving him the edge. However, in a startling development, Batman discovered Starmans weak point: the Sloppy Joe. After downing a plateful of the "manwiches", Starman forgot that he was in a battle and headed back to the sanitarium for his meds. Winner - Batman by forfeit.

The third match of the day was the first "Furious Female Fight" special attraction of the day. Princess Diana herself squared off with Shadow Lass. It didn't take long for Wonder Woman to squash the hopes of the second hero from the 30Th century in as many battles. This battle had some special rules put in place as it was not a battle to the death or a last (wo)man standing match. With the special "It's Cheeks' blog so Cheeks gets to make the rules" rules in place, this was declared the first "Bra and Panties" match of the tournament. The first lady able to strip her opponent to just her bra and panties would be declared the winner! Unfortunately for us, Shadow Lass was able to turn to her shadow form mere seconds before she lost the fight. Winner - Wonder Woman.

Um ... isn't Wonder Woman's costume made up of just a bra and a pair of panties? Hmmm perhaps we need to investigate this further!

The final battle was almost over before it even began as Green Lantern Hal Jordan was scheduled to battle Vigilante. Unfortunately we were informed that the Vigilante we originally had invited to the tournament had committed suicide. We decided to declare Jordan the winner in a "no contest", but right before declaring this, another Vigilante, the original cowboy version, rode up on his Vigilante cycle shooting off his six-shooters and singing "Home on the range". In the shortest match so far, Green Lantern, with the help of his power ring, formed a giant green fly swatter and squashed the singing cowboy in six seconds. Winner - Green Lantern Hal Jordan

Even thou he lost, Starman still has one of the coolest costumes in the tournament!

That's the first part of the first round of the tournament and all four of our number one seeds made it on to the second round. Very soon we will be announcing the second part of the first round as we have all of the number eight seeds versus the number nine seeds. These should be some of the hottest contested matches yet.
