Marshall, Will, and Holly

On a routine expedition ... yes I am just back from seeing The Land Of The Lost and I have to say I was surprised how well the show adapted to the big screen. I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Now, how does TLOTL and LOST compare? Well, read on and I will try and enlighten you:

Will and Holly find a message written on a rock warning them about the local inhabitants called Sleestack (Others?), nobody knows who wrote the message, but it would seem to infer that someone had been there before (like Adam and Eve were in the caves) our family of Land of the Lost-aways arrived.

In the episode Album, Holly and Will see a ghostly image of their dead mother (like little Ben did) who isn't really there. It is only after they deny what they are seeing (like Hurley seeing Dave) that they break the spell and the images disappear.

In Elsewhen, Holly meets a woman named "Ronnie" who came through a "Time Door" that are located all over TLOTL.

Holly notices that the woman has a scar on her wrist.

Ronnie gives Holly a locket, sort of like Locke giving Richard the compass.

Later, Holly cuts her wrist in the same spot that Ronnie had the scar. Holly realizes she was talking to a future version of herself.

An episode titled Hurricane a parachutist becomes entangled in a tree in TLOTL much like Naomi did.

The Marshalls decide to build a raft and sail away. After they end up back where they began, Rick Marshall declares that TLOTL is in a "closed reality" and that there is no way out. This part of the episode called Downstream reminds me of the raft that Michael built in order to sail off of the island but it also is similar to Desmond's declaration that the island is a "bloody snow globe" and there is no getting away from it.

In an episode titled Possession, Holly is taken over by an evil being who is "trapped" in a pylon (Jacob?). After Rick destroys the matrix table inside of the pylon (the thing seen here in the lower right corner) Holly (Claire?) is released by the being and is back to her normal self.

Here we see a mirrored version of Will and Rick in the episode titled Split Personality. The mirror copy of Rick and Will who are seen here wearing shirts that our Rick and Will had packed for their original trip but didn't wear, are trapped in a wall. Rick says that they can see them because their realities are "grinding against each other". In order to free their duplicates, they must take crystals that their doubles have and put them back into the control panel.

As Will goes to take a crystal from his fathers doppelgangers hand, Rick warns Will not to touch him. Rick tells him that they can't touch because something cataclysmic could happen if matter was allowed to touch antimatter. This sound anything like Chang and the rabbits in the Orchid station video to anyone?

An episode titled The Flying Dutchman, a landlocked ship is found in TLOTL which looks like the Black Rock. The captain of the ship later speaks about visiting "strange islands".

A hot air balloon crash lands into TLOTL in an episode titled Hot-Air Artist. Unfortunately the man who piloted the balloon was not named Henry Gale.

The odd magnetic properties of the island are discussed in the episode Time Stop, as Will talks about the compass Uncle Jack has made that doesn't point to true north in TLOTL like it should.

Jon Locke stars in TLOTL

An episode titled Ancient Guardian shows a statue that was placed in TLOTL as a protector of the Sleestack race. Know anything about statues and LOST?

And that's not all I still got more to come later!

Good stuff! I just watched the episode Split Personality the other morning. I have to admit, the show is growing on me. But I still hate the little girl. I guess there is no chance she gets eaten by Grumpy before the series end, huh?
