4's vs. 13's / 3's vs. 14

Starting to get some of the heavy hitter episodes in these pairing. Let's start with a very popular 3 seed

The Brig - Locke convinces Sawyer to go back to the Black Rock with him where Locke says he has Ben held captive.

But he really has his own father Anthony Cooper. By the way Cooper is also the original Sawyer and Locke wants our Sawyer to kill Cooper for him. It's the only way Locke can join the others Ben claims.

At first Sawyer balks at the idea (he wants to turn over a new leaf) but finding out Cooper was the man who caused his father to kill his mother and then himself was too much. Sawyer goes a little crazy and strangles Cooper with one of the chains hanging in the ancient slave ship. http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/The_Brig

It will be facing off with One Of Them - a 14 seed from season 2. A man claiming to be Henry Gale is caught by Rousseau. She enlists Sayid to help get the man out of her trap and back to the hatch.

Inside the hatch Sayid uses some questionable techniques to try and extract the truth from Ben. In other words, her tortures him.

In flashbacks we find out it was Kelvin, Desmond's original hatch mate, who taught Sayid the torture techniques he used on Ben. http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/One_of_them

The number three seed Pilot episode, the one that started it all is up next.

If I really have to tell you anything about this episode you're not really a fan of the show now are you?

It will take on a 14 seed from season two Three Minutes where we find out what happened to Michael after he made contact with Walt on the hatch computer that lead him to killing Ana Lucia and Libby as well as letting Ben go.

Hurley and Kate dig graves for their two dead friends.

We see the list that Ms. Klugh gives Michael of the four people that he is to bring back with him. Incidentally they are the final four living "candidates" that Jacob must choose from at the end of the series. http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Three_Minutes

There's No Place Like Home Part 1 is a three seed from the end of season 4. In a flash forward the Oceanic 6 start to give their "story" to the media after they return to civilization.

Jack finds out that Claire was his half sister after Christian's memorial service.

Ben delivers himself to Keamy at the Orchid station. http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/There%27s_No_Place_Like_Home%2C_Part_1

It will be facing the 14th seeded Flashes Before Your Eyes from season 3. Hurley, Charlie, and Desmond all get drunk drinking a bottle of MacCutcheon Scotch Whiskey.

Desmond learns about the universes need to "course correct" from Eloise.

By episodes end we see that Desmond throws the engagement ring he bought for Penny into the river and joins the military. On island he tells Charlie that no matter what he does he cannot save Charlie's life and eventually he will die. http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Flashes_Before_Your_Eyes

The last 3 versus 14 features the 3rd seeded Greatest Hits episode. The group realizes that someone is going to have to dive down to the Looking Glass station to turn off whatever is jamming the communications.

Charlie volunteers and believing it will end up being a suicide mission he decides to write the greatest moments of his life.

Surprisingly, Charlie makes it to the station alive but his mission isn't over yet. http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Greatest_Hits

It will take on the 14th seed from season two The Long Con. Sun is attacked and Kate and Sawyer take her back to camp where they all begin to fear another attack from the others.

In the flash back we see Sawyer pulling off the titular con on Cassidy. The infamous "accidentally opening briefcase full of money" gag.

At the end of the episode we find out it was Charlie that attacked Sun at Sawyer's behest in order for Sawyer to get the stash of guns. Ominously Sawyer tells Charlie that he never did a good thing in his life. http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/The_Long_Con

Moving on to the 4 vs 13's first up is the fourth seed Lockdown. Sayid, Kate, and Charlie go looking for the balloon "Henry Gale" claimed to have crashed onto the island with.

In the flash backs we once again see Anthony Cooper use Locke to get some money for him. Doing it not only costs Locke more of his sanity but it is the last straw for Helen who leaves Locke.

Inside of the hatch, some sort of lock down occurs trapping Locke and Ben inside and unable to get to the button that needs to be pushed. The regular lights go out and a black light comes on. This allows Locke to see a map on the hatch door. http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Lockdown

In Raised By Another, the 13th seeded opponent of Lockdown, Claire has an odd dream about her baby. Locke has weird black and white eyes in the dream and tells Claire that now we all have to pay for your mistakes.

In the flash back we see that Claire goes to a psychic about what she should do with her baby. The psychic, Richard Malkin tells her that her baby must not be allowed to be raised by another. She has to raise the baby.

Ethan finds Claire and Charlie in the jungle together. At the same time Hurley discovers that one of the survivors was not on the planes manifest. http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Raised_by_Another

The 4th seeded Walkabout showed us just how miraculous it was the John Locke was up and walking around on the island.

Locke rather rudely tells Sawyer about the boar hunt some of the survivors are going to be going on. During the boar hunt Locke has his first run in with the smoke monster.

In the episodes flashback we see Locke is not allowed to go on the Walkabout he had booked in Australia. As the leader of the group leaves on a tour bus Locke says the phrase that will become one of his more famous quotes: "Don't tell me what I can't do!" http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Walkabout

Taking it on will be a 13 seed episode D.O.C. In the episodes flashback we discover that Jin's mother blackmailed Sun into giving her $100,000 or Jin would know his mother was a prostitute.

Elsewhere on the island, Desmond's group gets help from an unusual source, Mikhail, to save the life of Naomi, the girl who parachuted onto the island.

Juliette and Sun go to the medical hatch to find out what Sun's date of conception is. Sun is happy to find out that the father is Jin. Juliette knows though, that because the baby was conceived on the island, Sun's life is at stake if she is to try to carry the baby to full term. http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/DOC

The first season finale, Exodus, is a 4th seed. The raft finally makes it way into the water and on its way to look for rescue.

Arzt blew up!

Tom, Mr. Friendly informs Sawyer, Michael, and Jin that he is taking Walt. There's a lot more to this episode than I have room to include here so refresh your memory here: http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Exodus,_Part_1 and here: http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Exodus,_Part_2

It will take on the 13th seeded episode 316. The episode begins with a familiar scene. Jack awakens on the island in a dark suit. Reminiscent to the Pilot episode. Jack pulls a piece of paper from his pocket. Written on the piece of paper are two words: "I wish". Later we would find out this was part of John Locke's suicide note.

Inside of the church Ben tells Jack that they will continue with getting back to the island. Ben says he needs to go see an old friend first.

Once on the plane, Jack discovers that Frank Lapidus is the pilot of flight 316. When Frank sees Jack along the rest of the survivors on the place Frank quips: "We're not going to Guam, are we?" http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/316

Two For The Road is the final fourth seeded episode in the competition. We see Christian and Ana meet for the first time when Christian hires her to be his body guard in Sydney.

Ana Lucia speaks to her mother on the phone after she quits the police force. Her mother knows she killed the man who shot her, killing he unborn baby, but there is no evidence so her mother lets her go but cannot allow her to remain a police officer.

Ana Lucia tries to take matters into her own hands and kill Ben but she isn't able to go through with it and Ben attacks her. Ana tells Michael about this and he tells her he will kill Ben. Michael takes the gun and turns it on Ana Lucia, shooting and killing her. Libby enters the hatch looking for blankets and is also shot by Michael. http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Two_for_the_road

The final 13th seed taking on Two For The Road is All The Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues. Boone and Locke discuss the red shirts on Star Trek as they use red cloth to mark their path so they can find their way back.

At a hearing concerning a patience death, Jack tells the board that Christian was impaired from drinking alcohol before surgery which led to the girls death.

Upon hearing that Ethan wasn't on the list of passengers on the plane, Kate and Jack go looking for Claire and Charlie. The find Charlie hanging in a tree seemingly dead. Jack performs CPR and is able to bring Charlie back. http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/All_the_Best_Cowboys_Have_Daddy_Issues
