Last Weeks Poll

Last weeks poll was Who would you be most surprised to see die on LOST? The choices were Jack, Kate, Ben, Sawyer, and Sayid. The winner was:

Kate!
Sawyer and Jack were tied for second. So seeing as how Kate won the poll, it's a good time for me to add that some of you might have to be prepared to be surprised. If the following means what it could mean, Kate's days on the island may be (ah hem) numbered. We get this from a sources source, take it for what it's worth:
"If we're to believe the preview of next Wednesday's LOST, it would seem that the long awaited reunion of Sawyer and Kate (also know as "Skate" on these here internets) will soon be upon us. And so, the bitter debate regarding whom Ms. Austen loves more him or Jack will burn especially bright in the coming week. Will she live happily ever after with the quippy Southern con artist or the stressed out doc? I don't know. Rumor has it, Kate might not live "ever after" at all. Solid sources tell me exclusively that Evangeline Lilly is auditioning for pilots. Pilots that are intended to launch this fall. And Ms. Lily's people are apparently saying she will be available. Say wha--?? Yeah, I can't make sense of it either. The notion that LOST producers would kill off Kate or have her disappear in any capacity before the series' final season seems preposterous. Still, no story development on this show would completely surprise me, as everything is clearly possible in the land of LOST. And the fact is, Lilly seems to be looking for work."

I think it is perfectly possible they'd kill off Kate -- or any other character as well. Unlike most any other show I can think of, LOST is one where no character is untouchable. I do, however, think it would be a mistake to kill Kate (not withstanding my deep love for Evangeline Lilly) because I can't think of a way it would make dramatic sense to the storyline.

I would also like to point out that the rumour mill says she's shopping around for pilots. This of course doesn't mean she's being killed off LOST in any way. A pilot, of course, is a one shot programme which may or may not even see the light of day. And then, even it it did get aired and, more remotely, got picked up as a continuing series -- enough time would have gone by that the final season of LOST will have already been shot and, most probably even aired -- since these things have an enormous shelf life before they actually get on the air. So while the "Kate rumour" may get people twitchy, I don't think it means anything as far as Evangeline Lilly finishing out the final season of LOST.
